Fear Destroys Mental Health

Fear Destroys Mental Health

3/28/20

For many years now, the subject of mental health has been an increasing companion.  One cannot jar loose from this subject being introduced as a part of human concern, rightly so since the world becomes more troubled as each sunrise occurs.  All of us struggle with being challenged but it is how we deal with such challenges that deem us worthy to claim accolades of mental health, or so the world says.  God has a different, accurate and eternal point for mental health, one that goes totally opposite to what the world preaches as gospel.  God made us in such a way that if we keep our eyes and heart on Him our mental health shall always be sound.  The world shall never accept this fact but it is one that we can take into the battle and come out solid minded and intact.  Fear is a loathsome state and it is not a part of God’s plan for our lives and it is His Will that we not live in fear because if we do it shall keep us from fulfilling His plan for our lives.

Most of us know by now that the world is in a state of unsettledness to which we do not have a clear direction and a clear end in sight.  Occasionally in these articles, I mention a few ministers that my parents were familiar with during their ministry years or even a few current ministries that present a word that is important for our ears.  I also have mentioned a few times of simple and unknown people who have listened to the voice of God to pray for my family or myself specifically.  But here I am going to mention another first, Archbishop Fulton Sheen, the past Archbishop of New York.  I know there are a few concerns about him currently but that does not matter right at the moment for there is a message he televised a long time ago talks about exactly where we were versus where we stand today and the difference between those two stances.

One message of Archbishop Sheen’s, in particular, covered the basic reasons why Americans were different from all other nations and how our light shone into all the dark corners of the globe.  How we took the Constitution of this nation to the world and covered everyone who wanted to be free from tyrannical leaders and governments.  These points of separation and difference that he pointed out were all of the aspects that my parents taught me as a young boy to strive for as a young man, but these attributes concerning the Constitution and way of life of this nation no longer are thought about in such a leadership manner.  The Constitution of this nation and the principles that it was written for have been turned into a selfish legal document of what I can do and what you cannot say about me, a dangerous platform that so many lies by and worship on the most fundamental level.  But while this transformation has taken decades to change it has brought along with it an instability that is unprecedented one that not only creates fear but instills it into others so that it can mutate as it is born into their lives.  This instability can only produce one final outcome and that is fear which only brings destruction to those who look towards its roots for security.

Look at the conditions of the world today and the pressures that are building within our own nation’s heart.  It is disgusting to hear that politicians and leaders of this land demand that their selfish and prideful lusts be paid for in legislation designed to help a struggling national economy.  It does not matter which side holds the keys to the passage or defeat of such words because the underlying throngs follow blindly in one direction without hesitation for what is correct and justified according to their own agendas.  The actions of people are horrendous not only in thought but in attitude as well.  I thought that when the elections of 2016 were over and I watched the reactions to a good portion of people and their actions being replayed over and over would change the way we conducted ourselves, boy was I grossly incorrect.  Those actions and attitudes not only continued but they grew exponentially into an everyday lifestyle.  Once again, current times provide us with another glimpse at a situation that was not expected and we are responding in a similar manner through the selfishness of our wants.

Can you imagine how our country would have fared if our Colonial respondents acted in such a selfish and hoarding way?  It is this aspect of selfishness that our Founding Fathers were concerned about rising up and taking hold of people enough to destroy the original meaning of this nation.  Fear is a destructor and will spread like a virus achieving its reproductive goals in countless inhabitants unless it is stopped cold in its tracks.  Mankind has had enough time to work out this fact but has failed to recognize the True answer to fear.  That is why our mental health of today is in bad shape and on its last threads of existence.  We have taken God out of our own definition and have put in His place the world, ourselves as the measure of life, which brings us to the passage that God wants to share with us today 2 Timothy 1:7.

2 Timothy 1:7

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Greek

“For God {has} not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love, and self-control.”

There are a couple of words here that God wants us to focus on in this magnificent verse.  The first word to look at is the word “fear” or as the Greek says “timidity”.  Most of us at one time in our lives have been afraid of doing something which would require us to take a step out and complete an act that we normally would not.  Many who know me say that I am very outgoing and have no fear when it comes to the words and actions that I portray but that has not always been the case.  As a young lad, I was very shy when it came to many aspects of the social demeanor and while I do not harbor many memories of these past moments I have to admit they were there and ruled my life for quite some time.  I cannot tell you what might have occurred if I had seized those moments and acted differently but I do know that in every moment that I remained silent and to myself I did not gain one bit of confidence at all.  It was totally my loss and opportunities that were missed with no results what-so-ever.  This is not how our lives were created to be or to live amongst, we were told to be different which means that fear is not a part of God’s establishment and must come from another source.

The second word that is important here is the word “but” and it is used both in the English translation and the original Greek.  It is a word that introduces contrast to what has already been spoken or demonstrated, to change direction or mention a further detail contrary.  It is this word that brings into light exactly how our lives were originally created and how we were supposed to act every day of our lives.  This word is also indicative of what occurred to change such original condition into a way of life for us today, a deep contrast to how we were first designed.  The simple word gives rise to the fact that we were not created with fear leading our lives and heart but one that held confidence power and integrity as the accomplishments of each breath taken.  Think about all of the authority we had been given and where our place stood in the eyes of God and eternity, all to be given away with another single word, disobedience.  Interestingly, the condition that we lived in first is the same condition all humanity seeks to find and yet at the same time refuses to accept the Way back to this state.

The third word that God wants us to study for a while is “sound mind”, two words in the English form and “self-control” in the Greek.  As mentioned in the previous paragraph it is this condition that is most desired by humanity and one that if ever obtained would fit into place in the original devotion of our existence.  Isn’t it intriguing that these words run close together and are used together in describing how our lives were originally created to live within?  Look at the current condition of our world and more specifically what is ongoing right at this moment.  The entire world is up in arms concerning a small virus that has spread pretty quickly.  Yes, it should be taken seriously and yes, its containment really should be completed as quickly as possible but trying to accomplish this task with panic as our first and foremost tactic shall not get the job done.  A sound mind or a self-controlled heart does not harbor misery, just as the old adage says about misery and company God does not operate in such a mode.

There is another beautiful correlation here with these two words and it demonstrates the setting and condition of the Garden of Eden and how its atmosphere ran and felt.  We all know that once a person is placed in a nice and calm environment on a continual basis their bodies begin to really relax and begin to think clearly making accurate decisions about issues that need to be addressed.  It was this state that Adam and Eve lived in until they allowed chaos and other concepts to flood their minds which eventually led them to choose sin and disobedience instead of truth and dignity.  In contrast, a mind that does not have self-control or is not considered sounds cannot live in such harmony and peace for these attributes come from God alone and through His presence only.  This means that if our minds and hearts are not steadfast on God and His Ways we cannot have a sound mind nor can we have self-control.  Once again, look at the responses that we are producing to the world in this crisis, our decisions cannot be considered to be sound at all and by the looks of the shelves of many grocery stores our self-control does not exist either; boy, selfishness is such a wasteful practice and a prelude to death and for some reason, it is our passion to fulfill these requests instead of pleasing and living for God.

In a day and age where billions of dollars in this nation and trillions of other national currencies are spent trying to settle the mind and heart to return to a sound mind with self-control being the centerpiece, we miss the answer because we refuse to read and live the Word of God.  This verse is not a mistake and it serves as the clincher for all who suffer from unrest, anxiety, and all other conditions and states that produce chaos only.  Many ministers and teachers have stated that the Bible has all the answers that humanity needs, but (here is that word again) we do not embrace the Truth of God and thus as our reward we shall never see one ounce of peace in our lives.  Satisfaction will only be a dream and a method of beyond belief on both personal and spiritual levels.  God is the ONLY One who is faithful enough to provide such a steady and dominate life lavished in peace and serenity; He continues to fervently call for us to hear His voice and to attend our hearts to Him and His Ways.  Waywardness is the product of the first part of this verse and God is the provider of the second half of this verse for it is this second half of the verse that God gave to us in the first place.  Money and physical positioning shall never stand up to the qualities needed in order to defeat fear and return our sound mine and self-control back to order, only God can destroy fear.

Church, why are we not teaching such Truth concerning the place we were once before, the reason why we are in the position we are in today and most importantly, the One who can change our eternal status?  Why have we watered down the Gospel in the name of publicity and numbers?  Why have we attracted and entertain the world and its political spirit instead of the Holy Spirit?  Why have we traded the Word of God for the word of the world?  Why are we more concerned about our physical appearances in the church pews instead of our appearance on the street corner?  Why have we allowed the minister of our congregation to bring in more people for Christ than through our witnessing?  All of these questions and many, many more break God’s heart as it beats for life and eternity.  This verse is one that should bring so much joy and happiness to not only our hearts but to those who are searching for a sound mind and a self-controlled heart.  Our fear of the world and the power it has to control things has been allowed to grow stronger in our hearts than the eternal power of God, and through this belief and intake, it now shows continually to everyone around us.

Our sound mind and self-control example to the world is crumbling right in front of our eyes and we seem not to mind this occurring.  God does not crumble nor does He walk in fear, He cannot yet His children seem to be wandering around in our own present wilderness doing exactly that.  God states that His Ways are not our ways at all and our actions prove God correct once again.  However, even though God is far above our ways it does not mean we cannot learn His Ways and learn how to live in His Ways as much as possible.  We do not have to volunteer sin into our lives we have enough of it already that we cannot shake.  Fear is the enemy of God and there should be NO reason why fear should rule any part of us.  So, why are we teaching that fear is allowed then?  Because we do not know and live by the Word of God, that is why.  Our path of destruction shall continue as long as we live in such spiritual poverty and our lands shall not heal at all.  The only way possible for us to understand this verse as it was meant is for us to go back to Genesis and study how Adam and Eve lived BEFORE sin entered into their existence and then allow God to show us how He expects us to live through obedience from His Word.

Universal

Universal

3/21/20

How well do you subscribe to the realization that Jesus died for all and to what extent does your heartbreak when a hated enemy passes from this life?  Jesus never turned from the people that wanted to take His life but He tried to show them the Truth about God the Father and just how much He loved each one of them.  Jesus’ representative life, death, and resurrection was for everyone who believes in Him and thus become an equal heir to what God originally had in store for His most prized Creation.  It seems it has become easier to condemn those who want to do harm than showing them the Way.  Jesus did not tell us to go into familiar lands or too friendly lands and share the gospel; He specifically mentioned the entire world.  It is time we once again place the emphasis on eternal salvation instead of selfish friendly gatherings at the table of God.  Universal means complete coverage but without limitations, humans can only dream of such existences but God shall deliver on His promises.

Do we have the knowledge and wisdom to recognize that when humans bring into light their conceptual meaning of the word “universal” it is a corrupt and damning word?  No human being can offer such overall giving for any product or plan because there will always be someone else who has other intentions that will stand in the way of this operation.  Many people also believe that this word usage will bring commonality and equality to those it is truly presented to but how many of these folks actually do the preverbal math on this idea and figure in the expenditures to fund this drive.  Also, while these types of utopian living conditions all sound good to those who bask in its beliefs, these figures and results always are based upon good living times without any complications or situations arriving; of course, they do not, for when those times arrive it is only a select age group that is taken care of and exposed as deemed worthy enough to be saved, treated, or rescued.  Followers of this belief are told not to worry about unusual of complicated situations arising for it will be dealt with when and if those occasions arrive.  This is an uneducated belief and false trust placed on humans that can never be fulfilled when leveled to people.

Have anyone of you reading this article ever have a telemarketer give you a call, or how about a call that is advertising why you should vote for a certain candidate?  All of us in this country have had this experience and like most other people those types of calls come at the most inconvenient time possible.  How many of these do you even listen to or fall for their lines of superiority and responsibility in order for you to buy into what they are selling?  Some of them even make you feel guilty when you say “no” and keep going on with their appeal as to why you should give in and change your mind.  At my house, we have learned just to stop talking to them when we find out who they are and what they are selling which is evident within a few seconds of answering the phone.  We hang up on them without even saying goodbye, ending any chance of them continuing to waste time.  In all honesty, this is how we should react to those who try and sell you a universal plan of anything, the eternal telemarketer presented his plan and it was fallen for a long time ago which we are all still suffering because of its consequences.

One of the more recently delivered plans of this type of “all” coverage and acceptability is Medicare of all or healthcare for all and it is this so-called simple idea that brings forth troubling consequences if allowed to take effect.   However, in human’s equivalent to equality standards, not all issues can be covered or taken under wing there has to be some type of limitation in order to keep the plan or system from going totally broke.  So, the next step to take is to begin to “appropriately” take from others to sort out the balance.  We have been accustomed in this day and age to have the belief that money grows on trees and that any type of situation or condition that presents itself can be overcome with our style of living.  Not, true!  If this was the case then why are there shortages on certain items through this current state of human panic?  Nothing is ever given away for free there is a price that someone has to pay for such amenities, gifts, and provisions.  It is this slippage in the truth that costs so many people their lives because they believe in the same lie on the spiritual aspect of their lives, it is a trick that says peace and equality my way but in the end, turns into an eternal nightmare that once bought into cannot ever be reversed.  Jesus is the only way to have such a universal life and eternal blessing that all of us seek to have.  The world shall never tell you this because it is Satan’s job to destroy your happiness and already perfect living space.  We are reminded of such passion and truth through a very popular and frequently quoted verse, John 3:16.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Hebrew

“For God so loved the world that He gave [His] one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The point God wants us to understand that unless He is the center of everything, any “universal” or “all coverage” plans shall fail and not last and we do not need to look any further than the Bible to see such truth revealed.  Honestly, this simple passage rings true throughout the entire Word of God and if we read nothing further than the first few chapters of Genesis we shall see that this plan of universal can only come from God alone.  God set our lives into motion in a perfect place of residence with no cares of our own, everything that was needed for life was already provided and all we had to do was be active and maintain this provision.  But as time went along we began to believe such lies that there could be more out there waiting for us, a chance to be on our own to do what we wanted without any overlooking guardians present.  A far greater universal plan that had been hidden from our lives was the suggestion that was made.

Most of us at one time or another has come into contact with a situation that seems like its benefits are too good to be true.  The advice that many of us have been taught, told, and shown is to stay away from such products for there is a nasty catch somewhere that will take you for a portion of your worth.  Countless people fall for such contracts and once they realize what has occurred and what they have agreed to there is no turning back to stop the process from taking hold.  These folks are tricky and can say things to make mud a sellable item to anyone but the bottom line is that when all is said and done, they have you trapped and locked into a contract that must be honored.  The same goes for many other areas of our lives and it does not matter what may transpire through these agreements, the end result is that you are now part of a contract that you must fulfill.  This is exactly why Jesus came to the world, for when it looks like all is over with and you have nothing left to live for He is the One that has the true and perfect plan for your life.

It does not matter if you have the best and cheapest insurance policy that money can buy, you cannot take it with you.  Any type of other human guarantee does not mean one thing when your life is coming to its end because, at some point, someone else shall decide what you get and what you do not get.  The only choice you really have in life is the one you make to either serve God or not to serve Him.  This popular verse gives us the blueprint and map to make that choice.  Even if this verse was the only verse that the Bible recorded it is enough to ensure that we understand what is at stake.  This verse acknowledges that there will be many obstacles that will approach your life and that you will be faced with some choices that shake your foundation.  It says that we all have a choice in how we make those choices and it gives us a final end story as well.  It gives us the exact reason why we have the opportunity to understand why there is only one way to this eternal goal as well.

Also, and most importantly, this verse gives us the single plan of who shall live forever and how to reach this all-important status.  Think for a moment about those times that you have faced when important decisions have to be made at that moment.  How do you feel during that moment and how do you feel after that moment goes away?  During these times of immense pressure, it is never easy and it seems like your stage is the only one playing life out at that moment and that everything hinges on this moment in your life.  Not many times do we stop and think about what my brother has said about this type of setting, or what my wife would think, it is only you and the people directly involved in the setting at that moment, that is your universal moment and the choice must be made, now.  This type of setting is what took place in the Garden of Eden when Satan tricked Adam and Eve into eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and it is the exact same plan he uses against us to trick us into believing that there is another universal way to live.

This Universal Plan that God has for your life did not come through any easy manner or by any cheap price.  It was a specific plan that was ordained by God long before any of us were even thought about, but it was one that has endured from the moment of our Creation and that universal plan has never changed one bit ever since.  Our enemy knows that God cannot change anything that He has or has Created and it is through this Truth that our enemy’s actions thrive for he recognizes that if he can get us to believe that there is another way to God other than through the Truth of this verse that he has won the day.  It is this dangerous belief that cost Lucifer his position in Heaven and it is this same dangerous plan that will cost yours as well.  Any deviation from the plan of God in John 3:16 is not a universal plan and it does not matter how “perfect” it may seem to your eyes and ears.  Humans cannot make anything perfect for there will always be something not thought about appear and this shall lead to someone being left out of the so-called universal plan.

God is here today telling us to stop listening to those who say that their plan is the correct plan and way to live.  Currently, we are embattled in a muck and mire scheme called a political cycle and it grows uglier as each day passes.  Thrown in with this mix is the fact that God is also allowing a nasty virus to impact our lives in many ways and when you combine these two conditions it seems like not much could go wrong or be worse.  However, that is not the case for these issues and items are just the tip of the iceberg that we shall encounter unless we change our hearts and seek the one True Universal Plan that is still on the table.  Honestly, I do not know how much longer this Truth will be honored but I know as my body rises each day, my spirit grows heavier as my eyes and ears witness the day’s events.

It is evident that not only the world but the Church is throwing its reliance on the world instead of God.  How many times do we have to be disappointed with the ways of the world and all of the promises that humans have to offer?  It is of a noble cause that there might be a possibility that a human idea could bring everyone together, make the world go around perfectly, and provide a complete and unified utopian society, but there is not.  There has been only One universal plan that has stood the test of time and has never failed at any time and that is the plan outlined in this verse of John 3:16.  While times have now changed and the world is fitting into this category, it is more important than ever that we turn to the eternal Universal Plan of God.  Church, it is time we step up and start teaching the truth concerning the way to God and to eternal life.  No longer can we lay out the lies that it is okay to be wishy-washy with doctrinal garbage that has separated us for generations.

Mankind shall continue to spread such evil plans that proclaim peace and true harmony, but all of them cannot survive one stone’s throw much less a global crisis.  God is calling out to us louder than ever to make our hearts right before Him and to live in His Ways so that He may pass over our houses.  God’s Universal Plan brings nothing but peace and Truth during times of trouble with the eternal guarantee that the Creator and Guarantor of this plan shall meet you exactly where you are when trials arrive.  Church, it is our responsibility to teach and to preach this Truth to the world for at some moment we will be held accountable for our actions and it is my utter desire to hear those words from my Creator “well done”.  The world shall throw so many plans that claim to be perfect in all ways, but they shall only provide disappointment and failure, it is the plan of God that provides everything we need to survive today and to live forever.  Seek God through His Word and He shall direct you in His Ways of Truth and happiness protect you in times of storms and give to the confidence to stand up against our enemy.  God loved the world so much to provide you with a plan that shall never fail and it is now our time to share this plan with others every day.

People Forget

People Forget

3/14/20

It is easy for some to jump on the unforgiving bandwagon against those who do not remember things or events of the past.  There are endless reasons why folks forget these conditions with a lack of interest being the most important as current life experiences heed the day.  But how would our lives be different if we did not forget these past experiences and then used them to avoid such diabolical dangers of today?  God placed into our lives a wonderful gift called memory and He expects us to learn from our mistakes and not to repeat them over and over.  The world shall wish upon us destruction and death which are direct measurements of this lacking in wisdom.  God, however, wants us to think of Him first so that He can continue to communicate with us the blessings of life and skip the events that cause us harm.

About twenty or so years ago I attended a short conference about how many of the World War II veterans have been forgotten along with the job they performed during this period of time in world history.  To be honest, I did not realize just how many people had been called into service from this small area of Colorado.  It is easy to believe that the major cities had plenty of contributors but not so much the smaller areas of the nation.  As I sat and listened to the producer of this conference introduce these brave men to the audience, I quickly sank into my seat because of my embarrassment concerning the lack of knowledge I had about these men in the area.  I watched the video of the producer with tears in my eyes, hardly being able to focus my eyes due to the watery state I was in.  Ever since that evening, I never had forgotten these wonderful patriots who served our nation so that we may have the continued blessings of life and of freedom that God intended all mankind to have.  I thank these men and women throughout our nation’s history for what they did and what they fought for every day, and I and my wife have done our best to teach our children this memory as well.

Many experts say that it takes only a single generation down the line to forget the historical memories of some type of cultural bond.  A good number of us that are fifty years and older remember living in a condition referred to as the Cold War.  For the main part, this war was fought in the government office buildings of two superpowers that stretched their empires across the globe.  A few heated exchanges and regional wars did manage to begin and end but even after such encounters concluded, this cold status between brothers and sisters continued with covert actions of strategy that are just coming to the surface today.  Almost every country in the world fought this type of war setting during the 1950s until the late 1980s.  There was a sense of survival tactics that many of us were taught extending all to the way to bomb shelters being built on many properties while a few people sat in their chairs with their nuclear keys at the ready waiting for orders to turn and launch.  These times were not always the best I have to admit but at the same time, we had the complete confidence in God and in our government to see that our lives prevailed over the enemy.  No, we did not do everything perfectly by any means but at least all of us strove to make our lives the best we could while tense moments in history walked with us.  This war too eventually ended and tensions between nations actually warmed and friends began to emerge from such ugliness.  This type of friendly activity became encouraged even though some still held their affections at arm’s length, but the doors were opened and the choice of peace existed.

Today, we face another type of war that is even more frightening than the services of the world wars and that of the Cold War and that is the war of ignorance and forgetfulness.  Building upon the proven fact it takes only one generation to forget the past; it is this war that provides the greatest danger to our existence today.  Even though some of the younger crowd was taught these wars none of them have had to live in constant worry about an immediate threat to their way of life.  Most of them do not understand how to live when there is not an abundance of food, electricity, gasoline, communication, housing, etc.  In other words, they have no clue about how to survive when disasters occur, large enough ones that totally interrupt everything and everyone around them.  Furthermore and more importantly, they do not know how to trust those around them when emergency situations arise because it is a known fact that when disastrous times occur people who you believed to be friends will sell you out in order to provide for their own wants and needs.

What does this mean to us?  It means that not all of the younger generations that are growing up understand the necessity of having to fight for what freedoms and beliefs really mean.  I am not saying that everyone should be living in a war-torn state or have had fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, or any other family member fall in the line of military duty but it means that they do not know what it is like to have to fight to keep and dress such God-given privileges. If this is the case, it does not take too much longer for these folks to lose the memory of why they are allowed to live in such standards and grace, and in turn, lose the concept of the dignity of such standards.  In this progressive stance, it is easy for one to forget about those who fought and died for the freedoms of today and in this state of “new ways” one can come to the conclusion that nothing in the past matters but only what occurs today can provide guidance for the future.  In truth, one cannot become closer to today unless we understand and receive from the past, but the world shall never tell you this because its ruler is the prime example of why God wants us to remember the past as well as look toward the future.  This process of remembrance must include God for if we do not then we shall fall into the satanic trap of eternal forgetfulness just as Egypt did when they decided to enslave Israel instead of remembering that it was Israel who saved them and gave them the status they enjoyed.

Exodus 1:8

“Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.”

Hebrew

“Then a new king who knew nothing of Joseph, came to power in Egypt.”

From this short verse, it does not take very long to realize that an entirely new leadership course has occurred in Egypt, one that really does not care about its past or how it came to be the greatest nation (empire) of the day.  This type of gregarious conduct of power probably was not the first of its kind but here we find that it is solely in charge and has no inkling to change any type of leadership contents to outside sources.  This verse clearly states that the new king had no clue about who Joseph was and what he did through God in order to save the kingdom of Egypt.  Through the wisdom of God, Joseph was considered the savior of the land by foretelling of how Egypt could survive a great famine as long as they heeded the Word of God concerning storing and preparing.  God also made it understandable that no other nation was included in such knowledge and that since Egypt was good to the family of Joseph, that good tidings would flow from Egypt enough to weather this storm.

This king forgot this Truth concerning his heritage and forgot not only Joseph but why the nation of Israel was present in their land as well along with the reason that Egypt survived.  It is obvious that this king became self-indulgent with his potential thus creating his own image as an immortal entity that deserved all entitlements no matter what the cost.  We must consider the fact that not only does this king not remember his history but he has also forgotten the ways and means to which he has bestowed the throne of Egypt, meaning that not only does he take the physical for granted but the spiritual as well.  This king could not help but hear the songs and praises of the Hebrew nation, noises that his people did not share and thus separated from those who believed differently.  Even though God may have still been living within the nation of Israel He no longer did in the lives of the Egyptians, and here lies the difference between not remembering and forgetting.  The Hebrew word here for nothing is “lo” and means without, not, no nothing before.  This person had no recollection that Joseph ever existed which means he held nothing in return for Joseph or that part of Egyptian history.  It also meant that he did not and was not obligated to keep anything sacred between the two nations.  This is what occurs when no historical memory or teaching occurs, both physically and spiritually.

This lap of luxurious pleasure was not taken away and forgotten by accident, it was voluntarily given up through the selfish greed of power and influence not only from the leaders of Egypt but of the inhabitants of the land as well.  In sequenced verses that follow we see that the Egyptian people were quite willing to go along with the added conditions against the Israelites, no opposition to such demands was contested only followed.  This is what occurs when God is taken out of a land that He was once allowed to inhabit, the same goes for our hearts as well and the same outcomes arise just they did in Egypt.  We see this occurring right before our eyes and it seems to be that we have no problem with this transformation.  This nation and many other nations who at one time considered themselves to be true Christian nations are now turning away from God and going on their own and we shall end up just as Egypt did, broken on all levels of life and left as a ransacked group of nomads with no effective leader to show us the Way.  These times of interesting events serve as only the beginning of what is to come, for as Egypt did its best to distance herself from God, her time of leadership and power came to an end.  We should understand the similarities between Egypt and the nation of Israel for it resembles the modern world and the true Church.  Why beg for plagues and pestilence to supernaturally invade our land, why must we continually defy God and His Ways of Creation, and why must we fail to reach the lost as we have been instructed?  It is because we have followed in the footsteps of Egypt and have forgotten the One who established our existence and gone our own path.

I recently heard a story told by one of my dearest friends that were born and raised in church but knew absolutely nothing about what the Bible had to say about life.  As I stop and ponder this statement of his, I cannot help but hear my heartbreak for many of the ministers of the Church no longer desire to know God and thus do not share His passion for the lost.  This loss of Truth about life is most concerning to God for it means that even those who believe they are saved shall not witness to those who are lost; ironically, both are lost in the eyes of God and shall not be passed over when it is time for the blood to be witnessed.  As leaders of the world, it is our duty to stand tall and firm against all evil but we cannot even shake a person’s hand or give them a hug in true honesty.  Egypt may have risen up a king that knew nothing about Joseph, but this nation now knows nothing about God.  The Egyptian king believed himself to be a god, therefore, did not need any dealings with anyone else claiming such Deity status.  We now define ourselves as knowing “lo” about God and are proud of the fact that we no longer “need” Him in our lives.

God says, “fine” and He will respect our choices to go it alone.  But keep in mind that what He has Created in His name cannot thrive or live in sin, it must be dealt with according to God’s definition of Truth.  Let us keep this in mind as our memories of Truth fade into the darkness that we have created for ourselves.  Also keep in mind, that Egypt through its total denial and remembrance of Joseph (God) lost everything because of this decision of theirs, never again did they have an empire, glory, or power again.  Choosing the ways of the world is a grave and dangerous path and nothing good can ever arise from choosing the world.  Only God can thoroughly clean our hearts and bring us back into His fold, even when times are hard and devastation is all around.  Paths are steps taken in a certain direction and it looks like we have passed the time of directional choices.  Let us take hold of God and focus on Him alone as we leave the land of Egypt.  No, it shall not be easy and even while the wilderness was a result of Israel’s lives, God still provided passage for those who chose Him over the world.

This is serious business Church, and we need to understand what is transforming before our eyes.  We need to be vigilant with our hearts so that we can hear what God is telling us to prepare for.  Israel did not have a lot of time to leave Egypt, it was a quick exodus if you wish to put it in this manner.  Are we prepared enough to make our escape from the world around us or are we tied too much to our worldly conditions?  It is obvious that many people in church buildings have completely forgotten about God and what He has said for us to do, and God tells us to wake them up for they have forgotten Him.  Church, time is almost up and we need to figure this out before things become horrid before our eyes.  Take a hard and long look at your heart, is it remembering what God has said to do or is it blackened with the process of worldly forgetfulness?  Allow God back into our hearts before things change.  Pray and seek God hourly for He is the only One who shall keep up groomed during forgotten times.
