God Did It Before He’ll Do It Again
1/3/20
Many people forget that once God has done something in
the past He has the authority and the power to repeat such activity toward
humanity. Mainly, we place this
authority of God on His benevolence because we personally have witnessed so
many blessings from His heart. But do we
understand that this repeated status of God can be on the not so good side of
things as well? Remember God is a
complete God which includes all aspects, not just one or two. God has shown His hand against many nations
during human history, some of those nations more than once, even to His own
chosen people God has demonstrated devastating techniques that can only be
described as supernatural. Do we still
have enough common sense to know that when God blesses He does so according to
the hearts of the people He blesses? And
do we understand that when He must use His hand against a nation or group of
people He does so because of the condition of their hearts? God does not hand out blessings and
destruction unequally; it is all up to what we harbor within our hearts that
predicate God’s course of action. It is
our choice to either defend God or defend the world, and that choice determines
which way God shall act.
All throughout our lives, we come to a point sometime
where we have to make decisions that could affect many people around us. It does not matter on what level these
decisions are on, they still have to be made.
Friends, family, co-workers, total strangers are all subject to these
encounters and in fairness treated with the equal integrity they deserve. But these decisions are usually based upon
the things that these folks have done in the past that determine what the
present course of action will take today.
It is at this juncture that some of these decisions have good outcomes
while others have distance letters of denial that could force physical
reactions that do not favor healthy settings for some involved. Most people would identify this part of our
lives as having free will or commonly known as choice. There are only two choices that mankind has
each choice serving a master and it is this served master that dictates which
type of response individuals, groups, and nations shall see from God.
I know that I have given God plenty of reasons to send
fire and brimstone down upon me but for some reason, He has chosen to wait on
His wrath against me. God has chosen
each one of us for a purpose and that purpose was given to us even before we
were conceived in our mother’s womb, see God even controls our before birth
status as well something that we take for granted when we come of age and
figure out what we want to be in life.
It is up to us to either develop what God has given us as our passion or
to allow it to become a grudge of selfishness that is displayed for everyone to
see. Blessings and cursings stem from
our hearts this is a truth from God and of God and while many of us believe
that these conditions grow at an adult age, they are born in us as is God, it
is just our choice to submit to one of the two kingdoms that vie for our
eternity. It is this representation of
ours that directly contributes to the overall spiritual recognition that a
nation displays which in turn displays itself on a large stage that not only
affects the nation we call home but grabs the attention of other nations as
well.
Genesis 12:1-3
“Now the Lord had
said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from
thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee
a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt
be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curse
thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
Our Scripture passage for this article comes from a
well-known passage in Genesis and it is one that has sequential meanings and
representations for generations past and to follow. We have God instructing Abram to leave his
country, his family home and go out in faith to a land that God will show
him. This means that Abram leaves his
entire home for a place that he has no idea where it is all coming from a
“being” that he has hardly any understanding about. Talk about having the total package of faith
in action, how many of us would do this sort of following if God physically
said for us to go and do something like this?
But as great as this single verse demonstrates to us about Abram, it is
not the portion of Scripture that we are going to focus on but it does set the
stage and the foundation from which God bases His statement in the next two
verses about who and what will encompass our lives in our futures.
How easy is it to forget that God watches over us from
angles we did not know existed? While
our eyes are usually focused on the physical words and sometimes actions around
us, God goes deeper and looks into everyone’s heart in order to determine
exactly what is transpiring. A person
may not lash out at one single opportunity but sit and wait until the moment is
right according to their calculations, all of which are being determined within
the confines of the heart. We cannot
forget that when God speaks something into existence it is permanently fixed
into the Living record of life which means that whatever He has spoken will
continue to be in place forever and ever.
Once again, it is easy for humanity to remember this concept when the
blessings flow upon and into our hearts but when it comes time to remember that
God sees all things from the heart, our memories become fuzzy and it is this
principle that God wants us to see in these next two verses.
The promise of God making Abram a great nation at this
time of his life seems kind of cruel since Abram has no children to call his
own, but what God shows Abram is the future and how things shall be well after
Abram is gone from this world. God tells
Abram that He will bless him and make his name great. Then God continues to place a hedge around
Abram and this nation by stating that whoever blesses him will be blessed and
whoever curses him shall be cursed. This
seems rather bizarre since Israel was attacked and destroyed even after God
made this promise many years before these feats were claimed. It was not God who initiated these reversal
tactics against Israel; it was the choices of the people of Israel that made it
possible for everything they knew as a society disappears before their
eyes. God understands sin and what it
does to the individual, He also understands what sin does if it is left
unrepented within the heart; it grows and becomes a normal portion of a
person’s daily life. The same rings true
for a nation’s heart as well which means that a majority of the individuals
within a nation feel like a certain sin really does not matter and is alright
as long as everyone leaves it alone. It
is here that the backside of these last two verses has its meaning.
God has His way of teaching nations and their inhabitants
that He sees what is going on within their hearts. God does not begin with capital punishment
for a sin that is isolated among few individuals or regions within the nation,
but He does deal with those who have been previously warned a bit harsher than
the so-called “first-timers”. Over time
if a nation allows sins to inhabit their lives unabated, they place their
status in jeopardy through the eternal promise of God which will be allowed to
occur as a reminder of exactly what is going on. Of course, God desires His people to repent
and He hopes that we receive the message of repentance before He must act
further and deeper, which defines the title of this article because while God
may not like repeating Himself with reminders to His people He shall do again
just as He did in biblical days of old.
A specific word that God uses here in this passage is the word “will”. This word is indicative that this process, in
either direction is going to occur at some point in the future if not careful
the process could become cyclic due to the fact of human actions. This passage gives us further proof that God
shall defend His people when necessary and then correct them when necessary as
well.
One of the most dangerous positions we can place our
lives into is the false sense of safety when we stop a sin, let it lie dormant
and then pick it back up again after a short or even extended period of time
again. This means that we never really
were free from what held us captive and in slavery, but allowed it to stay
present within our lives thinking that as long as we did not entertain it that
it would eventually leave or even die.
Even in this “dormant” state it really is not just laying around not
doing anything, it is actually lying in wait until it can find something else
to attach itself to which serves as a growth process with a tighter hold than
before. Ironically, when this process
occurs more turmoil ensues within the person or nation that harbors such
combinations for sin alone cannot survive by itself but neither can combined
sins either; that is why Jezebel drove herself and everyone around her nuts
because she could never settle her spirit down for it was always in competition
against her and against others simultaneously.
If this lifestyle is allowed to voluntarily continue, God
will at some point have to mention His definition against it and intervene
according to His holy presence and existence.
Because of the attitudes of the heart of Israel, God had to watch the
kingdom split into two not solving any issues but multiplying them as each year
passed. Over time, both kingdoms became
wicked enough to grieve the heart of God and thus He was forced to allow
nastiness fall upon each kingdom; at separate times, however, a process that
should have woken the other one up before destruction arrived but as history
tells us they did not listen or hear what God was showing them and saying to
them. Eventually, both kingdoms saw
their individual status’ fall into the hands of other warring nations and the
inhabitants of both kingdoms taken out of their lands and led into captivity.
It is this process that God shows us what can occur if we
do not lead and live in a repentant life as a nation. There is no question that Israel was the
apple of God’s eye and she still is but it also gives us representation of how
God cannot tolerate an individual, group, or nation that refuses to live in
holiness. It does not matter if your
feelings dictate your belief that God is a sugar daddy or if He does not even
exist, He is alive and watching our hearts night and day and if He sees a
process where our hearts have gained enough sin within them that it will lead
to sure and total destruction He shall intervene beforehand. It did not matter that Israel had to see this
demise and it sure will not matter for God to allow some type of devastating
disaster or disasters occur on our land as well.
God is a complete God and even though He has shown His
hand against other nations, including Israel, in the past do not think twice
that God will not show His hand against this nation and other modern nations in
the world either. Being a complete God
also means that He is consistent in all ways even if those ways are seen as
being friendly in some instances. God
does not administer such instances lightly, but being a complete Figure all the
time He requires the same from us as well.
God gives us every opportunity to stop our sins before He has to step in
and change our settings according to His Ways and not ours. Likewise, it is strictly up to us to change
our hearts before this type of event occurs for it is us who change and bring
on either God or the world. Just
remember, if we choose to allow God to change our hearts in His manner without
repentance, everything we know around us shall be taken in such a manner that
will not be conducive to friendliness.
This coming year and decade can be one of blessings or cursings and it
is strictly up to us to which we shall be witness. Our answers do not lie within politics, with
food, or even in financial institutions or jobs but our hope and rest come only
from God and we shall never see this if we do not choose His Ways and His
blessings over our lives. Whatever way
we choose, the results shall be quickly noticed.
This article is not all about doom and gloom as some people
would say for the other portion of these two Scripture verses state that God
will bless those who bless thee. Do you
realize that these two verses are also talking about you and me? Many regularly fit other nations into these
verses and hold them accountable as such but these verses also refer to us as
well. If we do not talk blessings upon
our nation what do you expect God to do with those words of cursings? Remember, God is a complete God and must act
on ALL words that come from the heart so even if an enemy who has no ability to
attack another from a great distance, God can attack such enemy from within or
bless them in such a manner according to His Word. It has become sickening about how many people
are quick to say horrific things about this nation and how they are harmonized
and proudly publicized without any hesitation.
This is one of the most frightening settings a human can call upon
themselves for when they do they forget that both kingdoms then have access to
their dominion.
As of this moment and while we ring in a new year and
decade, we need to take a great deal of time and once again allow God to search
our hearts and to rid our hearts of such idolatrous sins. With just a quick glimpse of what the major
television outlets promoted on New Year’s Eve, it is easily depicted that our
hearts have no intentions of turning back to God, that is fine, but be warned
that as our defiance toward God increases so will our calamities. We have plenty of resources and examples to
look at to reinforce this proclamation and even with all of our so-called
advances in communication and technology we are still subject to an awesome God
who wants nothing less than purity and holiness from His prized Creations. If we continue to curse ourselves thus
creating and allowing other nations to do the same, then watch out folks, a
wave from God will arrive that shall shake our land to its core. Here is a news flash for everyone reading
this article, God does not have to restore our land after He has done something
to it, He can heal our land before this occurs and everything shall be
beautiful again WITHOUT the pain.
But God promises us to heal our land and hearts if we ask
Him and as stated above this healing process does not have to occur after
devastation occurs. God has seen fit to
bless this nation beyond belief and there is a reason for this, He created this
nation to do such an act but to do it in His Ways and in His name, not the way
of the world. Today marks the new year
and a chance to change our ways and turn them back into ways that would be
pleasing to God. God shall bless this
nation again in ways that make our current way of life look like paupers but He
shall not do this until we turn from our wicked ways. This Truth was established in Abram’s time
concerning blessings and cursings and we need to refresh our heart’s memories
concerning such Kingdom principle before we have to experience it. While these verses used in this article have
been used mainly for information about other nations, they represent a more
intimate reference to ourselves that we have basically ignored. Remember, like-spirited spirits attract each
other before they begin to fight each other for control.
Church, it is our responsibility to shout the Gospel to
those who are in need of the Truth, this includes local people first and then
to the world. All have sinned and it is
our responsibility to our command from Jesus to reach as many people possible
throughout the world. It is a tough
fight and one that is not easily overcome for the world has its home field
advantage claws buried deep within every corner of each person’s heart. The world is prepared to fight until the
eternal death for its possessions, are we ready to do the same? The only way that this nation and the world
shall ever see peace again is if we drop our weapons of worldly warfare (words
and mouths) and return to God again.
This action shall be the first step that God shall see from our hearts
that we want to speak blessings again.
Blessings are the sweetest sound that God hears from His people and then
gives in return, an eternal reciprocation that has limitless boundaries which
are how God’s Kingdom wishes to be witnessed.
We can read the blessings of God all throughout the Scriptures of His
Word and not just in these three verses, God wants to bless His people and
shall do so with an abundant heart if we only turn to Him for everything.
